We made some awesome reading anchor charts these past few weeks. The kids are learning Daily 5 and are already getting the hang of it. The first one shows them how to pick a good book. It's very important in third grade that students are reading on their instructional level. This chart helps them remember what a 'Just Right' book is for them. The second chart helps them remember how to retell a story. I introduced this earlier this year due to the DRA assessment we are giving at the beginning of the year. It's important they can retell the story on their own. We read the story 'MaƱana Iguana' and retold the story using our chart. We made the third chart today. We explored different genres of fiction books and made this anchor chart together. This is my favorite one so far! We are currently reading the book 'Amber Brown is Not a Crayon' as a class we will be discussing story elements and character change next week. Look for our awesome activities we do with this book next week!
